These man-made fibers are developed from chemically transformed wood pulp. Unlike viscose, we accept them on Rafale because the products used in their manufacture are up to 99% reusable.

🪢 Elastane / Spandex / Lycra

Elastane is derived from the petrochemical industry and, like other synthetic fibers, pollutes during manufacture and use by releasing micro-particles of plastic.
What's more, a material made from a blend of fibers with a high percentage of elastane is more difficult to recycle: elastane tends to stretch during mechanical processing, which puts a strain on machines.
At Rafale, we initially wanted to ban it from our selection. But we quickly realized that it was necessary in certain products, such as swimwear and leggings. Needless to say, non-elastic leggings would greatly impair our athletic performance.
So we decided to limit ourselves to products containing less than 15% elastane.
